The Brunner Polarys Twinair 3000 is a portable split air conditioner built for caravans, campervans and motorhomes where a roof-mounted unit isn't practical or wanted. 

It splits into two parts. The condenser hangs outside the vehicle and the evaporator sits inside, with the two linked by a flexible hose that runs through a partially open window or awning panel. There's no drilling, no cutting and no permanent change to your van, so it suits anyone who'd rather not modify the roof or who already has solar panels taking up that space. It runs on 230V mains, which makes it a campsite electric hook up (EHU) unit rather than an off-grid one.

The Twinair 3000 delivers 3000 BTU (900W) of cooling and is rated for spaces up to 25 to 30 cubic metres, which covers most vehicles under around 5 metres internal length, 2-berth caravans and side-dinette layouts. Power draw is 345W at 230V, low enough to run on a modest campsite hookup alongside a fridge and lights.

The indoor evaporator measures 45.5 x 17 x 33cm and weighs 5.6kg, while the outdoor condenser measures 43.5 x 21 x 35.5cm and weighs 14.4kg. Both units store away when you're not using them, so they don't take up permanent floor space. Running noise sits at 53dB, quieter than most single-hose portable air conditioners, and a night mode drops the fan to its lowest level and dims the display for sleeping. The temperature adjusts between 16°C and 30°C across two ventilation levels, and the unit also dehumidifies, which helps in damp conditions or after rain. Control is via the LED display on the indoor unit or the free Brunner app over Wi-Fi.

The Twinair 3000 is the lower-output sibling of the Twinair 5, sharing the same split design and the same physical footprint while drawing less power. Because nothing is fixed to the vehicle, there are no warranty implications for your van and you're free to move the unit between vehicles, or take it home for a spare room in a heatwave. Store both halves upright when travelling and plan where the connecting hose will route before you fit it, since the window needs to sit slightly ajar to pass the hose through.
